Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) Round 4 Workshop – 14th June 2013, Bristol

Composites UK and Axillium Research invite you to a consortium-building workshop on Friday 14th June at the NCC, Bristol to develop a collaborative programme to address the challenges of Composites Supply Chains for Advanced Manufacturing. This is the first of a series of workshops to prepare an application for the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) Round 4. This has an application deadline of 16 October this year.

Already identified opportunities exist around:

* Standards & guidelines for the use of composite materials in structures.
* Construction sector project around foot and road bridges.
* Recycling of composite materials at end of life, and use of recycled composite materials in recyclates.
* Development of composites using natural resins alongside natural fibres, and from recycled materials.
* Composites in Marine.

Projects ideas will address the common challenges of:

* Creating more competitive supply chains that anchor high-value-added work in England and UK supply chains
* Attracting new customers to existing supply chains
* Sustaining or creating new employment opportunities
* Creating better synergies and sustained collaborative relationships throughout supply chains that participate in the initiative.

The scope of the programme will be to create jobs through the development of people, technologies, processes, materials and skills. The programme will address opportunity and prevent market failure in the UK supply chain. Workshop participants are welcome from primes (OEMs), suppliers and the applied research community. The programme will be cross sector, with particular focus on the transport (automotive, aerospace, marine and rail), construction, and supply sectors.

Composites UK and Axillium invite you and your supply chain partners to register for the workshop, so please share this message with those who might be interested in participating in such a programme and attending the workshop. Attendance is by registration only through this link: http://amsci.eventbrite.co.uk/
