Marine South East and the Port of Poole are undertaking a market survey to investigate the views of potential customers to the development of a new short sea container shipping service to European ports.
Short sea container shipping services through the Port of Poole offer many advantages to shippers wishing to move goods between the UK and Western France, Spain and Portugal. Lorries would drop their containers at Poole where they would be transported by feeder ship to a mainland European port. The load would then proceed by road to its destination. This multimodal route could save hundreds of road miles.
