Boatbuilding with advanced composites: Manufacturing for the future 15th July 2010

15 July 2010, Southampton

Following a highly successful and well attended event two years ago, this one day seminar will develop the theme of ‘Manufacturing for the Future’ further. The seminar will show how production boatbuilders can manufacture stronger, lighter and cost effective structures that comply with construction standards and environmental legislation through the use of advanced composite materials and processes. The theme of ‘Manufacturing for the Future’ aims to help the UK boatbuilding industry remain profitable and competitive.

A range of speakers from leading industry organisations will present examples of best practice and case studies in production boatbuilding including new design, process and tooling technologies and materials applications. The emphasis will be on staying competitive in international markets, with examples of what the competition is doing and how to meet the challenges.

The event will appeal to boatbuilders, designers, material suppliers and research organisations using composite materials in recreational and small commercial craft, and those involved with regulations, standards and certification for boat design and construction.

There will be ample opportunities for discussion and networking.

Registration is £50 per delegate for members of Materials KTN, Composites UK and BMF

Registration is £80 for non-members

Membership of the Materials KTN is free at https://ktn.innovateuk.org/web/materialsktn

This seminar is arranged by the Materials Knowledge Transfer Network and supported by Composites UK and the British Marine Federation.
