Wind energy opportunities and the marine sector: 17th June 2010 Seawork

Marine South East will be partnering with Envirobusiness to host two workshops at this year's Seawork Exhibition on Thursday 17th June 2010.

The morning workshop will look at the opportunities for marine companies in the Offshore Wind Energy Sector with the afternoon workshop concentrating on the opportunities for marine businesses presented by Onshore small scale wind installations.

The morning Offshore Wind workshop will aim to highlight the supply chain opportunities for the marine sector offered by offshore wind development in the UK and specifically the Round 3 Offshore Wind Procurement. Speakers from The Crown Estate, London Array, Vattenfall and Gardline will outline the opportunities for marine companies in the Round 3 Offshore Wind Procurement programme. Representatives from Marine South East and Envirobusiness will also be on hand to discuss timelines, challenges and opportunities for marine companies.

The afternoon workshop will look at the opportunities for marine businesses to engage in the small scale onshore wind energy sector.

The new UK system of Feed-In Tariffs for renewable energy generation, developments in planning regulations and technological developments are making small wind turbines increasingly attractive. This workshop will highlight relevant policies and planning regulations, set out the economic case for 'small wind' and examine some of the technologies on offer. Small scale wind power will be of particular interest to marine businesses located in windy coastal locations such as marinas, ports and shipyards.

Details for both events are currently being finalised and will be available for booking online shortly. If you would like to register your interest in the meantime please email admin@marinesoutheast.co.uk specifying which event you are interested in attending.
