In conjunction with other business support organisations, Marine South East is again this year running a business advice stand with a range of organisations offering advice and assistance to marine companies both exhibiting and visiting.

Marine South East
Marine South East is a business led consortium developed to address the needs of the marine sector in the South East, supported by the South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA). Its aim is to increase the profit, productivity and promotion of the marine sector in the region. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Marine CoVE
The Marine CoVE exists to increase employer-college engagement through the ongoing development of relevant learning opportunities to meet current and future skill requirements in marine industries.

This includes the development of vocational provision in further education, and liaison with schools to encourage participation from young people at all levels and abilities.

The CoVE also encourages collaboration between providers and promotes excellence in learning to all students on specialist vocational programmes.

The Regional Resource Centre
The Marine Regional Resource Centre, one of the first of its kind, is based at Southampton City College’s Maritime Technology Centre (MTC) at Woolston. The MTC is centrally located at the heart of marine activity and the presence of the RRC will have a significant impact on marine business utilising composite technologies. The RRC is a working partnership consisting of Southampton City College, the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Engineering Practice & Productivity and Solent University.

The three partners bring together a wealth of expertise, providing pioneering industry-driven training for companies, current students and tutors across the whole of the southeast region. This pool of expertise is available for all marine based engineering, design & manufacturing companies throughout the southeast region.

MEMSP
The Manufacturing, Engineering and Marine Skills Partnership (MEMSP) is an effective stakeholder alliance that brings together industry, training providers, business support services and individuals to resolve the critical skills issues facing engineering, marine and manufacturing employers in the South East of England.

MEMSP has been working with companies and training providers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight for the last three years to help them overcome skills and recruitment problems. We have communicated with nearly 5,000 companies and undertaken Training Needs Analyses (TNAs) with 1,000 of these. In addition, over 1,000 pieces of training have been delivered and 4,000 young people have attended one of our successful skills festivals.
