British Marine Meet the Buyer event; buyers confirmed to date

The British Marine Meet the Buyer event is back once again, taking place during the London Boat Show from 10th - 11th January 2017 at ExCel in London.

The event provides a unique opportunity for International Buyers and UK Suppliers of marine products and services to network in one location saving on travel time, air fares and scheduling issues. Last year 17 international buyers had over 450 twenty minute meetings with over 50 suppliers over two days.

Confirmed buyers include Baglietto, San Lorenzo and T.Mariotti from Italy, Palby Marine and Tuco Yacjt Vaerft from Denmark, Byggplast from Sweden, Marintek Deniz and Yeke Denizcilik from Turkey, Moreman from Russia, Pendennis Shipyard from the UK, Poly Sources Development and Beijing EV Culture from China and Plastimo from France. A number of well known brands are also waiting to be confirmed including Elan Yachting, Fincantieri, Portofino Yachts and Yacht Chandlers from the US.

Innovate UK Funding Competition: Open Programme Round 2

Innovate UK is to invest up to £15 million in innovative research and development projects that will turn innovation excellence into economic impact for the UK.

The aim of this competition is to help businesses develop new products, processes and services with commercial potential. Proposals should demonstrate disruptive and/or cutting-edge innovations. Businesses should demonstrate evidence-based ambition and potential for return on investment, growth and scale-up, preferably with access to global markets.

To be in scope, total costs for the project must be between £25,000 to £1 million. Projects should last between 6 months to 36 months.

The competition is open to businesses of any size. You can work individually or collaboratively.

Solent LEP Havant Business Support Fund open for applications

The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership has launched round 1 of a new fund - the Havant Business Support Fund.

The new fund is a £250,000 competitive capital fund which seeks to support the Havant SME business community by providing funding on a grant, loan, forward-funding or equity share basis to SMEs in the Havant Borough Council area seeking to grow their business quickly through new processes/products/services, and/or developing new markets.

The Havant Business Support Fund is currently open for applications.

Limited grants available for exhibiting at Offshore International USA

The Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) is organising and managing the UK group of exhibitors in a dedicated UK group pavilion at Offshore International North America 14th-16th February 2017.

There are a limited number of DIT grants of £2000 available for eligible companies. The deadline to book space is 12th January 2017.

Oceanology International 2017 is a unique event showcasing the latest technologies and developments from across the ocean enterprise. No other exhibition and conference connects the manufacturers and users of ocean technologies with such a diverse spectrum of scientific and industrial stakeholders, technologists and engineers.

The three day event comprises an exhibition, conference and is open to exhibitors world-wide from companies or groups of companies which design, manufacture, maintain, repair or modernise maritime equipment and promote, sell or provide maritime services.

San Diego is home to the Scripps Institution of Oceanology and US Navy Pacific Fleet both of whom are supporting this first edition of the exhibition in the USA. Themes will include maritime autonomy, maritime security and the future requirements and opportunities of the Blue Economy.

Solent LEP Annual Conference 2017 2nd February 2017, Portsmouth

The Solent LEP's Annual Conference will take place 2nd February 2017 from 10.00am to 3.30pm at Lakeside, Portsmouth.

Hear from influential speakers and leading innovators on the key topics that are shaping the future of the Solent area. Join in the discussion about the challenges and opportunities for the Solent economy moving forward.

Raising productivity is a central long term challenge facing the UK and it will be a key area of focus for the Government's forthcoming industrial strategy.

The Solent LEP's Annual Conference will bring together key leaders from the business, education and public sector as well as industry and government representatives to look at the challenges and opportunities for the Solent economy moving forward.

The event will include updates from key industry leaders on growth opportunities for the Solent economy including; Solent LEP Chairman Gary Jeffries on LEP priorities in 2017 and Port Director Alastair Welch on growth opportunities at the Port of Southampton.

There will be a Ministerial update on future UK support for International Trade and an interactive panel session with local influencers on opportunities and challenges facing Solent businesses.

DIT TAP grants for JEC World, 14-16 March 2017

Composites UK is the accredited industry trade association (ATO) for the DIT’s Trade Access Programme (TAP) in the composites industry for the JEC World Show in Paris Nord Villepinte, France.

SMEs can apply for a grant of £1500 to help towards the costs of exhibiting at this show. All TAP applications for JEC World (Paris Nord Villepinte, France) must be processed through Composites UK.

You do not need to be a member of Composites UK to apply for one of these grants.

Composites UK has 15 grants (11 now allocated, 4 left) of £1500 available to participating eligible SMEs for the JEC World show in Paris from 14-16 March 2017.

Solent LEP European Funding Event, 10th January 2017, Botley

The Solent LEP will be holding an event to launch two ERDF European funding calls for the Solent on Tuesday 10th January 2017 at the Hilton Ageas, Botley.

The ERDF funding will support the following:

* £3m call to support a Low Carbon economy
* £4m call to support the competitiveness of SMEs

To provide further information on these two calls the Solent LEP are holding a briefing event on 10th January 2017.

At this event delegates will hear detailed information about the two call specifications and how to apply and will also get the chance to network with other intermediaries and potential project partners.

South Coast Business Works, 1st February 2017, Southampton

Now in its sixth successful year, Business Works invites businesses large and small across the region to showcase their company to a wide, influential audience.

Business Works aims to give firms a competitive advantage, just when they need it most, with the opportunity to meet face to face with a targeted audience of business leaders and decision makers.
