New Isle of Wight Rural Grant Funding Scheme Launched

The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Natural Enterprise have launched a new £150,000 grant funding programme for the Isle of Wight rural business community.

The Isle of Wight Rural SME Fund is a competitive fund offering grants of between £2,500 and £10,000 to support projects from rural businesses which generate sustainable growth, represent strong value for money, and create or safeguard jobs at Island businesses. Funding can be used to support up to 50% of a projects total cost.

The Isle of Wight Rural SME fund is now open for applications until September 2016 and a briefing session for businesses seeking further information on the fund will be held shortly.

Promote Boating during English Tourism Week

VisitEngland will be running English Tourism Week (ETW) from 5th-13th March 2016. This offers the marine tourism sector an opportunity to promote their businesses and boating as a whole.

Tourism businesses can submit events, activities or offers via VisitEngland's events submission form. Click the link below to access the form:

Once approved, events will appear in a dedicated English Tourism Week 2016 Guide for Consumers who will be able to look up events using various filters. You can use the ETW16 toolkit for advice on branding your event for the week.

Brochure display opportunity at Oceanology International

SMI (The Society for Maritime Industries) is offering companies the opportunity to display promotional brochures on the SMI stand at Oceanology International, which takes place in London 15th-17th March 2016.

Oceanology International (OI) is the global forum where industry, academia and government share knowledge and connect with the marine technology and ocean science community, improving their strategies for measuring, exploiting, protecting and operating in the world's oceans.

Each company will be limited to three different styles of brochures (e.g. equipment, company, services, etc.).

The cost will be £100 per company which includes transport to the exhibition and active promotion and distribution of the brochures from the SMI stand during the exhibition, irrespective of the number of brochures forwarded.

Companies wishing to make use of this service should complete a booking form and forward it to the Events Manager at Society of Maritime Industries by Wednesday 2nd March 2016 together with payment.

Please note that whilst the SMI team will do their utmost to distribute all the promotional material during the exhibition, material not distributed by the close of the exhibition will be left for disposal.

Poole has successfully bid to host European Maritime Day (EMD) and the EMD conference in 2017, joining a long list of major European maritime cities who have previously hosted this prestigious event. This is a one-off opportunity to promote Poole and to use this event as a springboard to promote your business to a local and international audience, and to network with important EU policy makers and business leaders.

Marine South East is assisting with the organisation of the event.
