£33 million boost to turn green ports and ships into reality
£33 million has been awarded by the DfT and Innovate UK to 33 projects across all 12 regions of the UK to deliver demonstrations, factory trials and feasibility studies in the maritime sector. These initiatives position the UK as a leader in emerging clean maritime technologies, fostering sustainable high-skilled jobs across the country and boosting coastal economies.

MSE International has been successful in winning one of the projects; HyCap Drive which is looking to build a prototype marine parallel hybrid drive in which the electrical power is provided by a super-capacitor energy store. More details about this exciting new project will follow in the coming months. Our project partners on HyCap Drive include the University of Birmingham, Marine & Industrial Transmissions Ltd, Aluminium Marine Consultants and the UK Harbour Masters Association.
