MSE International is delighted to be part of the consortium working with Portsmouth International Port on the Sea Change project which has secured £19.8m from the Zero Emissions Vessels and Infrastructure competition (ZEVI), funded by UK Government and delivered in partnership with Innovate UK.

MSE International has been working with Portsmouth International Port for the past 4 years on a number of decarbonisation projects including PESO and BlueStor, looking at the electrification of the port. The Sea Change project will build on this work in a significant way given the size and scope of the project which will design, build and operate and ‘shore power’ systems across the three busiest berths at the port. This will allow visiting ferries or cruise ships to turn off their engines when in port and ‘plug in’ and use green electricity to run their onboard systems.

MSE’s role in this new Sea Change project will be in the development of the exploitation plan and how the findings and technology can be scaled up for other ports.
