The NEXT GEN Marine HYDROGEN workshop will highlight effective solutions for workboats, ferries, patrol craft, military vessels, SAR, wind farm support, super yachts and unmanned craft. With focus on sub 24m vessels, topics are also relevant for 25m to 100m and the ports they operate from.

The workshop combines international marine energy expertise with dynamic Q&A sessions. End-users and industry come together to identify viable solutions and technology readiness levels. Supporters include MAHLE Powertrain, University of Nottingham, Lloyd's Register, RINA, ABS (American Bureau of Shipping).

As the opportunities for Hydrogen are rapidly evolving, NEXT GEN topics range from the potential for 100% Hydrogen engines to Green Corridors and multi-billion-dollar investment in Hydrogen infrastructure. Focus is on marine technology that could be installed on vessels today or in the very near future.

Energy security and the drive for alternative marine fuels is now urgent. Significant government funding on both sides of the Atlantic will build supply chains for Hydrogen and derivatives. Much of this will be in and around ports, leading to a ready supply of Hydrogen for marine power and propulsion.

WORKSHOP THEME: What are the Tipping Points for Marine Hydrogen?

Session 1: Hydrogen, Methanol & Ammonia as Marine Fuels.

Session 2: Hydrogen, Fuel Cell & Dual Fuel on Vessels.

Session 3: Hydrogen Policy, Safety & Maritime Regulations.

There is increased interest in Hydrogen and alternative fuels for vessels in the 25 to 100m range. Border forces and coast guards need this size for all-weather patrol. Wind Farm Support Vessels are going to bigger vessels as projects go further offshore. Plus the majority of Superyachts fall into this category.

The unique knowledge gained from NEXT GEN workshops helps to shape real world decisions, from modifying in-service powertrains to shaping requirements for next generation vessels. Attendees include commercial, government and military organisations, boat builders, engine manufacturers, technology developers, engineers, naval architects, class societies and legislators.
