New roadmap for floating offshore wind and marine environment interactions
The Floating Offshore Wind Centre of Excellence (FOWCoE) has launched its Floating Offshore Wind Environmental Interactions Programme and Roadmap.
The roadmap has identified several priority areas that will allow the floating wind industry to develop a portfolio of activities to capitalise on opportunities provided by the industry and mitigate any potential risks, creating a faster and more efficient consenting process for future floating offshore wind farms.
The second phase of the project was announced at Global Offshore Wind 2022, which will co-ordinate environmental data collection and aggregation across early floating wind projects in the UK, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of environmental interactions. In tandem, it will support research projects to address knowledge gaps.
Three additional reports from the FOW CoE were also published recently, looking at International Market Opportunities, People Skills and Vocations and the Strategic Infrastructure and Supply Chain Development.
