MSE International has been working with the European Space Agency, ESA on a project called EO4MI that brings together innovators, researchers, and industry to unlock the power of Earth Observation (EO) in advancing a sustainable Blue Economy. Through collaborative pilots and targeted applications in sectors like enhanced metocean forecasting for safer maritime operations and improved EO-based monitoring of blue carbon habitats, this initiative accelerates the adoption of EO-based solutions to tackle real-world maritime challenges across the Atlantic.

As part of the project MSE has completed an extensive programme of analysis and stakeholder engagement to prioritise novel space-based information services that could drive operational improvement across the Blue Economy. Central to this engagement has been a wide, multi-disciplinary approach, combining capabilities from satellite to seabed, from operating company to scientist.  Integrating sensed data from space and from marine/submarine platforms has been a particularly powerful aspect.  Results have been presented and discussed at a range of workshops and webinars, attracting widespread interest and support.  The EO4MI project is making good progress and we are now seeking to build concrete collaborations to implement up to 3 funded pilot projects.

These pilot projects are:
  • Ecosystem monitoring for natural capital
  • Enhanced metocean forecasting services
  • Maritime security and resilience applications

Please complete this online questionnaire which presents the planned pilots and asks you to specify what role you would be interested to perform.

Responses by 10th April would be appreciated.  Completion of the questionnaire takes less than 10 minutes and there is no commitment implied by completing it.

A dedicated website has been created to publicise information about the project and the pilot actions.  Please click here to access it.
